Who are Austin’s opponents?
This evening’s match is the first of a double-header across the coming days. Austin will face Houston tonight, before taking on Salt Lake on Thursday.
Where are the games being played?
The first in a series of Weekend with LOVB events sees Austin host LOVB Pro’s Gameweek 7 encounters.
Three games will be taking place at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Texas, including the aforementioned pair of Austin matches.
Omaha are also set to take on Houston at the 8000-seat venue, at 4.30pm CST this afternoon.
What time does the action get under way?
Austin’s match against Houston gets under way at 7pm CST tonight. Their second outing of the round vs Salt Lake starts at 7pm CST tomorrow.
Opposition guide
Houston will be in a buoyant mood ahead of their clash with Austin, having just won the inaugural LOVB Classic.
They swept Madison in the first of their three matches last weekend, before defeating Omaha 3-1 in the semi-final.
Massimo Barbolini’s unit then beat top seeds Atlanta 3-1 in the final, to secure the season’s first piece of silverware.
The division’s form team will be a tough test for Madi’s side, then, as Houston look to climb the standings from their current position in third.
But Austin may have the psychological edge in their second game, having just beaten upcoming opponents Salt Lake at the LOVB Classic.
Friday’s hosts won that quarter-final clash 3-1, with Madi registering 12 kills, a block, two digs and an assist.
Anything else to know?
Despite losing to eventual champions Houston, Austin enjoyed a broadly successful LOVB Classic, with two wins from three outings.
They will be looking to use those results as a springboard, to start putting a run of LOVB Pro results together — beginning this round.
Austin are currently in fifth place, but have played two matches less than Salt Lake in fourth, as well as a game less than leaders Atlanta.
