Gameweek 1 of the first-ever LOVB Pro season saw Madi make an immediate impression for new side Austin.
The former Texas Longhorns star announced that she would be taking part in the competition’s inaugural campaign last month — and just a matter of weeks later she was taking to the court for her professional debut.
Madi’s first appearance coincided with Austin’s maiden outing, as the team headed to the Fort Bend County Epicenter to face Houston.
The 23-year-old produced an impressive individual performance, registering 22 kills, an ace, five blocks and eight digs.
Unfortunately her display didn’t lead to a victory for Austin, who raced into a two-set lead before ultimately losing the match 3-2 (25-27, 24-26, 25-22, 27-25, 16-14).
There was little time to dwell on that result, though, with just a day between the Texas-based side’s first two matches.
The second game of the ‘Weekend with LOVB’ showcase pitted Austin against Madison, but coach Marco Bonitta made a raft of changes, with only Chiaka Ogbogu and Anna Haak starting both encounters.
That meant a break for Madi, though Austin were able to get the job done in her absence — sweeping Madison to claim their first win of the season (25-21, 25-23, 25-18).
They will be looking to build on that result this Wednesday, when a home clash against Atlanta lies in store for Bonitta’s charges.
