Austin made the most of their home advantage by claiming back-to-back victories at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Gameweek 7.
The hosts beat Houston 3-1 in their first Weekend with LOVB match, before defeating Salt Lake by the same scoreline.
Madi put in a highly impressive display in Austin’s opening game — recording 23 kills, an ace, two blocks, 13 digs and an assist.
With interim head coach Chris McGown taking charge for the first time, his side stormed to a 25-20 first-set win, before Houston levelled things up by taking the second set 19-25.
But there was no stopping Austin, as they wrapped up the game by winning consecutive sets — first 25-18, then 26-24.
“I was really, really pleased,” McGown said after the match, before adding: “I thought the team was great. They did a really good job.
“They were calm, they were collected and played hard the whole night.”
And there was another positive performance to come the following evening, when Austin beat Salt Lake 3-1.
Madi only played two sets in this game, but still managed to register ten kills, two blocks and five digs, while hitting .350.
This time Austin raced into a two-set lead (25-21 then 25-22), ahead of Salt Lake’s third set win (21-25).
Any possibility of a comeback was immediately extinguished, though, as Madi’s side ensured victory by taking the fourth set by 25-21.
Unsurprisingly, McGown was once again delighted after the game, saying:
“This match comes at the end of a really long series of matches and travel. We just talked about bringing as much energy as we could, to find it somewhere, and I thought the girls did great.
“I thought the team stepped up. It was a true team effort. We had a lot of individuals play great and come off the bench and do really good things for us.
“I'm so impressed with this group and what they've been able to do.”
