New season, new team, new league… it’s all change for Madi in 2025!
The 23-year-old completed her final campaign with the Texas Longhorns last month, but is set for an immediate return to volleyball action after signing with LOVB Austin.
Their season gets under way this Thursday, so it won’t be long until we see Madi back out on the court.
And she’s not the only one in line for her debut later this week — Austin’s game against Houston will be the team’s first-ever competitive match, following the launch of League One Volleyball (LOVB) for 2025.
Madi’s new side will be playing in LOVB Pro, the league’s professional division, where they will compete with five other clubs for the inaugural title: Atlanta, Houston, Madison, Omaha and Salt Lake.
Their quest for top spot will be led by experienced head coach Marco Bonitta, who previously took Italy to a first World Championship triumph.
He’ll be working with a roster of top talent, including founding athletes Chiaka Ogbogu, Logan Eggleston and Carli Lloyd, and a handful of ex-Longhorns stars.
Those familiar faces should help Madi settle into her new surroundings, ahead of Thursday’s trip to the Fort Bend County Epicenter to face Houston (7pm CST).
That match is immediately followed by a clash with Madison on Friday (4.30pm CST), before a first home game the following week against Atlanta — taking place in the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park (Wednesday January 15th, 7pm CST).
A successful season would see Austin progress to the LOVB finals in April, where the 2025 campaign will draw to a close.
There’s plenty to be excited about over the next few months, then, as Madi begins a new chapter in her volleyball career.
