Austin finished third at the inaugural LOVB Classic after recording 3-1 victories over both Salt Lake and Omaha.
Those triumphs sandwiched a 3-1 defeat to Atlanta on Saturday, who went on to reach the tournament final before losing to champions Houston.
Madi featured in the first two of Austin’s outings in Missouri, including their quarter-final game against Salt Lake.
She recorded 12 kills, a block, two digs and an assist against the side from Utah, as Austin took control by winning the opening two sets 26:24 and 25:14.
Salt Lake rallied to take the third set (19:25) but Madi’s team closed out the match with a 25:22 win in Set 4.
“We are really satisfied today, not only with the victory but the way we won this match," said Austin head coach Marco Bonitta after the game.
“We played so good the first set, with great energy and strategy. We won the second set so good. We lost some energy and focus in the third set, but we came back so good in the fourth set.”
That result set up a tie against Atlanta, who went into the encounter on the back of six consecutive victories.
And the top seeds made that seven in a row despite a spirited effort from their opponents.
Atlanta took a first set lead (25:15), before Austin immediately levelled things up in Set 2 (22:25).
But consecutive sets for Paulo Coco’s unit (25:23 and 25:20) put paid to Madi’s hopes of securing her first professional silverware.
Regardless, she still racked up 12 kills and eight digs in the semi-final clash.
Austin ended things on a positive note, too, by beating Omaha 3-1 in the third-place play-off on Sunday, to claim bronze at the Municipal Arena in Kansas City.
