LOVB Austin’s maiden competitive home match ended in defeat, as Madi’s side were beaten 3-1 by Atlanta.
There was plenty of excitement ahead of Wednesday evening’s game at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park, with Austin playing a LOVB Pro match in front of their own fans for the first time.
And they made a strong start at the 8000-capacity venue — winning the opening set 25-18.
That advantage didn’t last long, however, with the visitors regaining parity by taking the second set 25-23.
A thrilling third set saw the teams tied at 24-24, before Atlanta took advantage of an Austin service error to go ahead — then edged further in front to make it 26-24.
Paulo Coco’s charges then won the fourth set 25-21 to complete the turnaround and secure their first triumph of 2025.
Despite the result, Madi put in a commendable performance on an individual level, registering seven kills, three blocks and seven digs.
She is currently the divisional leader when it comes to both points and kills across the campaign, with 37 and 29 respectively.
The 23-year-old will be keen for the team to get back to winning ways, though, when they visit the Liberty First Credit Union Arena to face Omaha on Saturday 26th January.
