Austin left the Gateway Center Arena empty-handed on Saturday, after falling to a 3-2 defeat against Salt Lake.
Madi’s team were going in search of back-to-back wins at the Weekend with LOVB event — and started strongly by winning the first set by 25:22.
But they were immediately pegged back in the second set (19:25), setting the tone for a topsy-turvy encounter in Georgia.
It was advantage Austin once again after the third set (25:20), before Salt Lake ultimately took control of proceedings — edging a tight fourth set that ended 25:27.
“That was our opportunity to win the match,” lamented Austin head coach Marco Bonitta, who saw his side lose the fifth and final set 12:15.
Despite the result, Madi was able to add to her personal tally for the campaign, hitting .333 and registering eight kills, a block and two digs.
A nine-point haul takes her season total to 58, with 47 kills and 10 blocks across the 23-year-old’s four LOVB Pro appearances.
And she will have another opportunity to put more points on the board on Wednesday night, when Austin return to action against Houston at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
