Who are Austin’s opponents?
Austin are set for their second consecutive double-header this weekend, when they take on fellow LOVB Pro sides Omaha and Madison on consecutive days.
They will certainly be familiar with Omaha, having only played them last Friday — beating the Nebraskans 3-2 at the Baxter Arena.
It’s not too long since Austin played Madison, either, though that game finished 3-0 to the team from Wisconsin back in early March.
Where are the games being played?
Austin return home for Gameweek 12, with their upcoming games taking place at the Strahan Arena in San Marcos.
Texas State University’s basketball and volleyball teams operate out of the 10,000-seat venue, which underwent a renovation costing over $60 million in 2018.
This will be the first time that Austin have hosted a home match at the Strahan Arena, though, having previously played at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park this season.
What time does the action get underway?
The first match of this Weekend with LOVB event gets underway tonight (Friday), when Austin face Omaha at 7pm CDT.
The following day then sees the Texans take on Madison at 10pm CDT.
That game is part of a Saturday double-header, with Salt Lake also playing Omaha (6pm CDT).
Opposition guide
Austin will be buoyed by some positive results against this evening’s opponents Omaha in 2025.
Madi’s team have beaten them in each of their three meetings, including at the LOVB Classic and last weekend.
The league’s bottom side are enduring a difficult run of form, with just four wins all season and none in their previous nine games — a run dating back to early February.
But it’s better news for Madison, who Austin play the following day.
They have hit a hot streak, winning five games on the bounce to leave them sitting in third place ahead of Gameweek 12.
Anything else to know?
It has been a mixed start to Chris McGown’s tenure as Austin boss — and that was perhaps encapsulated by the results of last weekend’s double-header in Nebraska.
A welcome 3-2 win against Omaha ended a run of three games without victory, but was immediately followed by a 3-0 defeat against high-flying Atlanta.
Ending that inconsistency will be key to Austin finishing the regular season strongly, with third-place up for grabs if they can pick up results in their final few matches.
Back-to-back home games this weekend could be the perfect opportunity to build some positive momentum, going into the campaign’s closing stages.
