Who are Austin’s opponents?
Austin will be familiar with upcoming opponents Salt Lake, having just played them in the final match of the regular season.
Madi’s side narrowly lost that game 3-2, so will be eager to make amends in this afternoon’s LOVB Finals quarter-final clash.
Their overall record against the Utah-based side suggests that this could be a finely balanced encounter, though, with Austin having won two and lost two of their meetings with Salt Lake in 2025.
Progress past Tama Miyashiro’s team would mean a semi-final against top seeds Atlanta — and potentially a final appearance, where they could play any of Omaha, Madison or Houston.
Where is the game being played?
Every match of the 2025 LOVB Finals is taking place at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY.
The first-class facility is certainly befitting of this year’s showpiece, having consistently been ranked as one of the best arenas in the United States.
A whole host of musical stars have performed at the venue — from Taylor Swift and Beyonce to Elton John and Paul McCartney — while it’s also home to the University of Louisville’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.
What time does the action get underway?
Austin’s game against Salt Lake is the opening match of the LOVB Finals and gets started at 4.30pm EDT this afternoon (Thursday 10th April).
Today’s other quarter-final pits Omaha against Madison at 7pm EDT.
Both semi-finals take place on Friday, with a potential game against Atlanta on the cards for Austin at 6.30pm EDT — if they can beat Salt Lake, of course.
The other semi-final is at 9.30pm EDT the same day, with the final taking place on Sunday at 4pm EDT.
Opposition guide
Salt Lake’s aforementioned Gameweek 13 triumph over Austin saw them finish the regular season in fourth place, after a somewhat inconsistent campaign.
They won seven LOVB Pro matches over the course of the year and lost nine, as well as registering one victory and one defeat at the LOVB Classic.
That inconsistency is also reflected in the Utah-based side’s recent form, following a four-game run of alternating wins and losses.
Austin will hope they catch Salt Lake on an off day, then, but will need to pay particular attention to Heidy Casanova and Haleigh Washington.
The former put 19 points on the board last Saturday, with Washington named Player of the Game at the Bruin Arena.
Anything else to know?
Could the pressure-cooker of the post-season see Austin snap a run of four straight defeats?
Chris McGown’s team have lost seven of their last eight but will have faith that their luck could turn in today’s match.
After all, a number of those defeats have been by a narrow margin, and the Texans have a solid record in games against Salt Lake.
Only three players have accrued more points than Madi (227) across the season so far, so she will be confident of coming up with goods for her side in Kentucky.
